Frequently Asked Questions

Where and when do you shoot?

We’re based out of beautiful Massachusetts, our sessions take place all year long — even during the Winter months! The busiest time of year for us is during the Autumn months and late Spring, March-June. All sessions take place outdoors in a natural setting, a few hours before sunset or early morning. We love adventuring with our clients to forests, lakes, beaches, and hidden nooks across New England. Not in the Massachusetts area? No problem, we’ll travel to you for a small additional fee.

Rain in the forecast? We’ll work with you to secure a rain date that works with everyone’s schedule. Please keep in mind, we do not hold sessions at our clients’ homes or backyards. If your pet has any medical concerns or is a senior pup, we’re happy to work with you on a local location that meets you and your pets’ needs and our photography style, please get in touch with us to chat.

My dog can’t be off leash. Can you still work with us?

Absolutely! More than 95% of the dogs that we photograph are on leash. With the help of some Photoshop magic, we are able to take out your dog’s leash like it was never even there (poof!). We do ask that you bring a standard, flat collar and not a harness to your shoot, as we are unable to remove harnesses from your dog’s images.

Is a dog handler included in all sessions?

Our Mini Moment and Single Dog Sessions do not always include a dog handler onsite. If you’re concerned about any behavioral problems during our session, please let us know and we will make sure a professional handler is onsite with us to make you feel more at ease. We work with a variety of dogs and personalities and are experienced with shy and fearful pups. If your dog has a bite history, please be sure to make us aware of this before we start our session.

Can we include some family photos?

We would be more than happy to snap a few images of the entire family at the start or the beginning of your dogs’ shoot but please keep in mind the shoot should be focused on capturing your dog(s). If you’re interested in setting up a family photo shoot instead, please contact us to discuss possibilities.

What should I bring to our shoot?

How can I help during our shoot?

If your dog has any favorite toys or treats, please feel free to bring them along! We come prepared with tons of tasty treats and toys as well. Please inform us beforehand if you dog has any allergies or dietary restrictions. Many of our clients bring bandanas and a few collars to use throughout the shoot. We’ll be navigating entirely outdoors in sometimes unpredictable terrain so please dress appropriately and be ready to navigate up hills, rocky terrain, and other environments.

We love that our clients are such a big part of helping us capture images; we’ll often ask that you help hold a leash or a treat in front of the camera for us. Sometimes, you’ll even get to play a photography assistant and help out with positioning some of our photography lighting. If you’re not comfortable with any of the things listed above, that’s totally ok, just give us a heads beforehand.

How long will it take before I receive my dog’s images?

You’ll receive a link to your own online gallery 2-4 weeks after your session. Through your gallery, you will be able to purchase digital files, prints, canvases, and other mediums. Your online gallery will remain open for four weeks for purchases. How many images will you receive to choose from? Each of our sessions promise different quantities, please visit dogproofphoto.com/sessions to find the right session for you.

Can I gift a session to someone?

Sure can! We offer digital or printed gift certificates for any one of our three packages. Please get in touch with us to learn more.
